Your wedding cake will be the focal point at your reception, not to mention an important photographic moment as you cut in to it! So it is important that the final design reflects your own ideas and personality. The wedding venue, time of year, brides dress, flowers and bridesmaid dresses are all important influences in designing a bespoke wedding cake.
Wedding cakes are available in a variety of different flavours, and it is quite acceptable to have a mixture of flavours, therefore Fairycakes offer an exceptional range of flavours to choose from.

The amount of guests at you wedding, and if you are keeping the top tier, will influence the size of your cake. A combination can be selected from cakes ranging from 2 to 16 inches and in many shapes to suit your needs, if you are only having a small intimate wedding, but have your heart set on a larger tiered cake, dummy cakes may be incorporated into the design to save money and waste! Square cakes typically give 40 to 50 more servings, and so the cost is more, and sponge cake will decrease the amount of servings.

Individually iced fruit or sponge cakes, mini fruit Pavlovas and mini fruit tartlets presented on a the tiered stand are also available upon request. If you are looking to add something different, include a grooms cake. Traditionally a groom’s cake was sliced and boxed for the unmarried girls attending the wedding to take home and place under their pillows in hopes that the man they dreamed of would be their future husband!
Today the cake is meant to be a reflection of the groom’s interests, whether it be one of his hobbies, favorite sport, profession, etc. It’s a personal choice when to serve the cake - either at the rehearsal or as an alternative dessert to the wedding cake. Obviously being named “Groom’s Cake” it should be a flavour and theme that the groom enjoys.
Fairycakes can recreating a variety of flowers in sugar, or if you prefer fresh flowers we can consult with your florist.
Bride and grooms can be hand made to resemble the happy couple out of sugarpaste, why not include your bridesmaids, best man or your children or pets for a personal touch.
Various stands, separators and pillars are available to hire. A deposit is required which is returnable to you when the stand is returned, normally within 72 hours, and in good condition.

If you have a budget in mind dont be afraid to let us know as there are many ways in reducing the cost of your cake such as choosing a round cake over square and the type of flowers or decorations on the cake. Also a popular choice is to have a chocolate cake that can be served with berries and fresh cream as the pudding. This way you are only paying for 2 courses and your cake doubles as pudding! If your wedding is a large occasion then consider having a traybake, this is a square cake only iced on the top which stays in the kitchens and is cut up with the rest of the cake, no-one will ever know that its not all from one cake!
Please do not ask us to decorate supermarket cakes as they are are usually badly iced, sloping and sometimes damaged and there is nothing we can do with them apart from stripping it and starting over again in which case we may as well have made the whole cake. If you want to decorate your own cake then we can supply a plain cake professionally iced, level and ready for you to decorate.
A £50 non returnable deposit secures your wedding date and the remaining balance is due 10 days before the wedding date.
At least four weeks notice is preferred with wedding cakes although every attempt will be made to accommodate all requests.
Free local delivery, using satalite navigation and professional set up is included within a 20 mile radius of Gloucester. Nationwide delivery is availible, this is charged at £1 per mile or you can arrange to collect your cake direct from us packed ready for transportation.
Consultations are free of charge and usually take place at Louise's home, if this is not possible then Louise can visit you. This gives you a chance to dicuss ideas and bring along any pictures and material samples you might have. Alternativley if you know exactly what you want you can order by phone. Cake samples are also free of charge but we must be advised before your consultaion of what flavours you require.
